Spaanyard, the freshest summer mix

14 01 2010

Spaanyard, a Joburg based soundsystem crew from Rockville in Soweto  released a wicked reggae summer mix in the run up to the 2009-2010 summer titled “2009 roots and culture summer mixxx.

Stuffed by wicked selectors like Lion King, Miagi, Ping Pong  and Mega Blues and they know the selector business.  Jamaican and South African artists never sounded so pefect in a mix tape.

The sound picks up at an easy pace with Beenie Man, Queen Afrika and Luciano to heightening vibes of Burro Bunton, Sizzla and Lukie D on a mad selection of ganja anthems.

The mix is not over as the crew buss up Vibez Cartel like nobody’s business. Later on a spice with a variety of female sensations like Etana, Cecile and well reknown artists like Capleton, Buju and John Legend, Richie Spice, Marcia Griffiths, I mean, the name dropping cant stop.

I could not believe my eyes as I saw Grahamstown listed amongst metropolitan venues like Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Read the rest of this entry »
